The branch annual general meeting or AGM takes place on Wednesday 25th February at 12.45 in the Friends Meeting house, on Mount Street behind the Central Library.
The AGM is the most important meeting of the year. It is for any and all members to come and have their say on motions that will set branch policy for the year ahead.
This year we will be discussing motions on local government pay, and the spending cuts imposed on us from whitehall.
With a general election coming its no surprise that we will also be hoping to pass a motion committing us to campaigning amongst UNISON members against the Tories. We will also be hearing a motion on UKIP and the dangers they pose to our society.
We are pleased to say our guest speaker will be Neil McInroy from The Centre for Local Economic Strategies who will be discussing the myths of austerity.
We will also formally approve the annual report sent out in December and receive a report on the branch finances.
So please do come down. If you work for the Council we have arranged facility time for you to attend. An hour and a half for the meeting and 15 minutes each way travelling time. Do please discuss it with your manager before you go.
We are also trying to get facility time agreed by other employers.
See you there.
